Helping the Society
A volunteer centered organization -- no experience necessary!
Since our very beginning with seven volunteers in 1904, to over 3,700 volunteers today, it is our volunteers that have made it possible for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society to serve more Sailors, Marines, and families. Trained volunteers serve ashore and afloat at every level of the Society -- from our Board of Directors to our smallest Emergency Services Office (ESO). The Society's volunteers are at the "front lines" delivering vital services to all corners of the Navy and Marine Corps.
Become a Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society volunteer
In as few as two hours a week, you can make a world of difference in the lives of others.
- Share your talents by serving in such areas as: financial education, client services, casework, public speaking, volunteer management and administration, publicity, and more. There are also retail associate and management opportunities within our thriving Thrift Shop operations.
- Educate others about the Society's many programs and services.
- Contribute to your military community and encourage others to join the Society's volunteer team.
In return, you receive comprehensive training and mentorship, learn valuable skills, and make a difference for others. The Society also reimburses volunteers for some transportation and family member care expenses.
Volunteer opportunities exist at all Society offices. Most offices are open during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) Monday to Friday and there are occasional evening and weekend volunteer opportunities.
